Deal

Quick Take: NTT DATA and Google Cloud Expand Strategic Partnership in APAC

NTT DATA recently announced an expanded partnership with Google Cloud to advance the adoption of cloud-based data analytics and generative AI solutions for enterprises in the Asia Pacific region.

The expanded relationship combines NTT DATA’s industry-specific expertise with Google Cloud’s AI and analytics infrastructure to drive sector-specific innovation and efficiency improvements across healthcare, financial services, retail, manufacturing, and public sector verticals.

The deal results in a new dedicated Google Cloud business unit. The new group will focus on joint solutions in GenAI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and SAP applications on GCP.

NTT DATA also announced that it plans to upskill its workforce to support Google Cloud solutions. It is committing to certifying an additional 1,000 Google Cloud professionals in APAC, in addition to its current 2,600 Google-certified engineers globally. This includes advanced training and certification programs for sales, pre-sales, and delivery professionals.

Analysis

The updated partnership strengthens NTT DATA and Google Cloud’s ability to address the growing needs of the cloud and AI markets in Asia Pacific while leaving the door open for future expansion beyond APAC. NTT DATA said in its announcement that it expects the partnership to grow NTT Data’s cloud business in APAC by 10x within three years.

The move is part of a growing trend of GSIs like NTT Data working closely with cloud service providers, accelerated by the increased demand for AI-driven digital transformation. GSIs leverage extensive industry expertise, global reach, and customer relationships to co-develop tailed, vertical-specific solutions with CSPs.

NTT Data is part of this trend. Beyond this announcement with Google, the GSI is an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, offering services including cloud migration, application modernization, and managed services for AWS customers. NTT Data also works with Microsoft Azure to deliver services such as cloud strategy development, migration, and managed services for enterprises that prefer Microsoft.

By bringing NTT DATA’s industry expertise and established client relationships together with Google Cloud’s advanced AI and analytics technology, the two companies can deliver customized, sector-specific solutions across the healthcare, finance, manufacturing, retail, and public sectors. This strong combination benefits all involved, including the enterprise customer.
